VfGroup
Basic
VfGroup wraps related elements together. By default it is flat — children merge directly into the parent form's data model without creating a nested key.
<VfGroup name="contact">
<VfText name="first_name" label="First name" default="John" />
<VfText name="last_name" label="Last name" default="Doe" />
<VfText name="email" label="Email" default="john@example.com" />
</VfGroup><template>
<VfGroup name="contact">
<VfText name="first_name" label="First name" default="John" />
<VfText name="last_name" label="Last name" default="Doe" />
<VfText name="email" label="Email" default="john@example.com" />
</VfGroup>
</template><script setup lang="ts">
import { defineSchema, useForm } from '@vueform/ui'
const schema = defineSchema({
contact: {
type: 'group',
schema: {
first_name: {
type: 'text',
label: 'First name',
default: 'John',
},
last_name: {
type: 'text',
label: 'Last name',
default: 'Doe',
},
email: {
type: 'text',
label: 'Email',
default: 'john@example.com',
},
},
},
})
const [Form] = useForm({ schema })
</script>
<template>
<Form />
</template>Nested
The nested prop makes the group create its own key in the form data model. Without it, child values are merged flat into the parent.
<VfGroup name="address" nested>
<VfText name="city" label="City" default="New York" />
<VfText name="zip" label="ZIP" default="10001" />
</VfGroup><template>
<VfGroup name="address" nested>
<VfText name="city" label="City" default="New York" />
<VfText name="zip" label="ZIP" default="10001" />
</VfGroup>
</template><script setup lang="ts">
import { defineSchema, useForm } from '@vueform/ui'
const schema = defineSchema({
address: {
type: 'group',
nested: true,
schema: {
city: {
type: 'text',
label: 'City',
default: 'New York',
},
zip: {
type: 'text',
label: 'ZIP',
default: '10001',
},
},
},
})
const [Form] = useForm({ schema })
</script>
<template>
<Form />
</template>Stacked
The stacked prop renders children in a horizontal row, useful for placing an input alongside action buttons.
<VfGroup name="newsletter" stacked>
<VfText name="email" placeholder="Email address" />
<VfButton name="subscribe" text="Subscribe" />
<VfButton name="reset" text="Reset" severity="secondary" />
</VfGroup><template>
<VfGroup name="newsletter" stacked>
<VfText name="email" placeholder="Email address" />
<VfButton name="subscribe" text="Subscribe" />
<VfButton name="reset" text="Reset" severity="secondary" />
</VfGroup>
</template><script setup lang="ts">
import { defineSchema, useForm } from '@vueform/ui'
const schema = defineSchema({
newsletter: {
type: 'group',
stacked: true,
schema: {
email: {
type: 'text',
placeholder: 'Email address',
},
subscribe: {
type: 'button',
text: 'Subscribe',
},
reset: {
type: 'button',
text: 'Reset',
severity: 'secondary',
},
},
},
})
const [Form] = useForm({ schema })
</script>
<template>
<Form />
</template>Heading
The heading prop renders the label as a heading element (<h1> through <h6>) instead of a <label>.
<VfGroup name="account" label="Account Details" :heading="3" /><template>
<VfGroup name="account" label="Account Details" :heading="3">
<VfText name="username" label="Username" />
<VfText name="email" label="Email" />
</VfGroup>
</template><script setup lang="ts">
import { defineSchema, useForm } from '@vueform/ui'
const schema = defineSchema({
account: {
type: 'group',
label: 'Account Details',
heading: 3,
schema: {
username: { type: 'text', label: 'Username' },
email: { type: 'text', label: 'Email' },
},
},
})
const [Form] = useForm({ schema })
</script>
<template>
<Form />
</template>Wrap
The wrap prop renders a bordered card container around the group's children.
<VfGroup name="billing" wrap /><template>
<VfGroup
name="billing"
label="Billing Address"
:heading="3"
wrap
>
<VfText name="street" label="Street" />
<VfText name="city" label="City" />
</VfGroup>
</template><script setup lang="ts">
import { defineSchema, useForm } from '@vueform/ui'
const schema = defineSchema({
billing: {
type: 'group',
label: 'Billing Address',
heading: 3,
wrap: true,
schema: {
street: { type: 'text', label: 'Street' },
city: { type: 'text', label: 'City' },
},
},
})
const [Form] = useForm({ schema })
</script>
<template>
<Form />
</template>Inner Wrap
The innerWrap prop wraps each individual child element in its own bordered card, rather than wrapping the entire group in a single container.
<VfGroup name="settings" inner-wrap><template>
<VfGroup
name="settings"
label="Settings"
:heading="3"
inner-wrap
>
<VfText name="username" label="Username" />
<VfText name="email" label="Email" />
</VfGroup>
</template><script setup lang="ts">
import { defineSchema, useForm } from '@vueform/ui'
const schema = defineSchema({
settings: {
type: 'group',
label: 'Settings',
heading: 3,
innerWrap: true,
schema: {
username: { type: 'text', label: 'Username' },
email: { type: 'text', label: 'Email' },
},
},
})
const [Form] = useForm({ schema })
</script>
<template>
<Form />
</template>Hoisted Errors
The hoist prop on child elements pushes their validation errors up to the nearest ancestor container. The group then displays the collected errors under its own label.
<VfGroup name="contact">
<VfText name="email" rules="required" hoist />
<VfText name="phone" rules="required" hoist />
</VfGroup><template>
<VfGroup

})
const [Form] = useForm({ schema })

<template>
<Form />
</template>Tabbed
The tabbed prop renders the group's children as tabs. Each child's page prop sets its tab label.
<VfGroup name="profile" tabbed>
<VfGroup name="personal" page="Personal">
<VfText name="first_name" label="First name" />
<VfText name="last_name" label="Last name" />

|---|---|
model | The element's reactive model value within the form data tree. |
value | The current language-aware value of the element. For translatable elements, returns the value for the active language. |

initialModel | A snapshot of the model at initialization time, used for dirty checking and reset. |
dataPath | The dot-notation path to this element's value within the form data object (e.g. "address.city"). Empty string for the root model. Flat containers inherit their parent's data path. |
tracking | Whether the element's default expression is currently tracked and auto-updating the value. |
update() | Updates the element's model value. Container elements perform a deep merge; leaf elements set the value directly. |
load() | Loads data into the element and fires the load event, cascading to all children. |
reset() | Resets the element to its initial model state and fires the reset event. |
clear() | Clears the element to its null value and fires the clear event. |
track() | Resumes expression tracking after an untrack, immediately re-writing the resolved value. |
untrack() | Stops expression tracking, leaving the current value in place. |
reinit() | Reinitializes the element by rebuilding both its model registration and validation instances. |
State
| Name | Description |
|---|---|
visible | Whether the element is currently visible, based on availability, container visibility, and pager state. |
available | Whether the element is available (not hidden by conditional logic). |
disabled | Whether the element is currently disabled, considering form state, parent container state, local override, and the disabled prop. The prop is evaluated through the conditions pipeline, so sync and async conditional values are supported uniformly. |
dirty | Whether the current model value differs from the initial model value. |
empty | Whether the element's current value is empty. Container elements check whether all children are empty. |
busy | Whether the element is busy, meaning it is either debouncing or has pending async validation. |

debouncing | Whether any of the element's validations are currently debouncing, including children. |
errors | All error messages for this element: its own plus any pushed up by hoisted children. |
hasError | Whether the element has any active error messages. |
displayErrors | The error messages rendered for this element. Empty when the element pushes its errors to its parent; otherwise errors capped by maxErrors. |
ownErrors | The element's own error messages (validation rules plus custom message bag entries). |
formErrors | Error messages propagated to the form, keyed by element path. Empty when the element pushes its errors to its parent. |
messages | The list of custom messages from the message bag, including messages from hoisted children. |
